It has been 4 years since The Toy Dolls last studio album ‘The Album After The Last One’ and 2 years since frontman Michael Olga released his solo acoustic album “OLGACOUSTIC”.
The band has never fallen short of providing the guitar-widdling madness that graces each record, and this new album features acoustic versions of 15 of the band’s tunes in their own brand of comic punk rock that has generated them a dedicated fan-base across the world.
In a nutshell, the band began in Sunderland, North East UK in October 1979.
After quickly building up a strong local following they were offered a support slot on two UK tours with the Angelic Upstarts which won the band highly favourable press reviews and garnered them a national following.
Following the bands early tours with the Upstarts they began embarking on their own UK tours, then moving on to Europe and the rest of the world.
Throughout the past 37 years The Toy Dolls have built up one of the strongest, most loyal, fan bases known to a punk band on this level.
The bands first album “DIG THAT GROOVE BABY” (recorded in 1983) is recognized as one of the best punk albums of all time, along with their seventh album of 1993, “ABSURD DITTIES”.
Including live albums and compilations The Toy Dolls have released over 50 CDs! 2015 also saw the release of “OLGACOUSTIC”, Olga’s solo acoustic album.
But this is no ordinary punk band! With song titles like “Dig That Groove Baby”, “Cloughy Is A Bootboy” and “My Girlfriends Dad’s A Vicar”, a stage show packed with synchronized jumps and dances, choreography, spinning guitars, and highly addictive melodies, this is escapism at its best!
The Toy Dolls are:
OLGA: Singer/Guitar Player
TOMMY GOOBER: Bass Player
THE AMAZING MR. DUNCAN: Drummer
“Olga is a guitar virtuoso, I’m not ****ing kidding. We did a show with The Toy Dolls in France over the past summer and they’re still world-class punk rock. I’ve been a fan of these guys for almost 30 years”
Tim Armstrong, Rancid
“A band this good is a rare and wonderful thing, don’t miss ‘em”
Garry Bushell, Sounds Magazine.
